We stayed at a hot springs home stay. We met a family with an 81 year old grandpa who was the happiest old person I've ever met. He bought us dinner and beer.
My friend Kevin's job is researching bats at the Taipei Zoo. He spends most of his time walking around with a device that looks like a TV antenna listening for radar sounds.

This is a cabbage farmer, who we met on top of a mountain, who gave us two free baked cabbages. He also gave us some honey comb with fresh bees on it. We hung around and talked to his family for awhile because it was raining. Apparently they moved across Taiwan to this new field because the last one was destroyed in a monsoon.
Most of the bike trip looked like this. It was really windy.
